karbonas statusas T sritis ekologija ir aplinkotyra apibrėžtis Žemės geologinės istorijos paleozojaus eros penktasis periodas, buvęs po devono, prieš permą; per tą laikotarpį susidariusių uolienų sistema. Prasidėjo prieš \Carboniferous360 mln. m., truko \Carboniferous 60 mln. m. Jūrose klestėjo koralai, stambūs šakniakojai ir senovinės žuvys. Sausumoje plito pirmieji stuburiniai – stegocefalai (šarviniai), atsirado pirmieji vėžiagyviai ir stambūs vabzdžiai (žiogai, žirgeliai). Augalijos pasaulyje vyravo medžių pavidalo papartiniai, pataisainiai, kalamitai ir kt.
